South Carolina Campaign to End AIDS Calls on Congress to Pass Ryan White CARE Act Reauthorization
Columbia, SC - The South Carolina Campaign to End AIDS called on Congress today to immediately pass the Enzi-Kennedy-Barton-Dingell Ryan White CARE Act reauthorization:
With the current legislation expiring at the end of this month, it could not be more critical for Congress to quickly pass the Enzi-Kennedy-Barton-Dingell Ryan White CARE Act reauthorization. Any delay in action will negatively impact our state's poor, and mostly minority, HIV/AIDS patients.
The SC-c2ea applauds Senators Enzi and Kennedy and Representatives Barton and Dingell for their efforts in crafting a bipartisan-bicameral bill that is fair to all Americans and compassionate in nature. We also thank the House Energy and Commerce Committee for their work on this legislation.
The SC-c2ea is pleased that the newly proposed legislation recognizes the geographic and racial shift of HIV/AIDS in America. This compromise legislation will provide much needed relief to our communities here in South Carolina and communities across the country. It will also bring relief to thousands of Americans who currently sit on HIV/AIDS waiting lists.
The passage of this Ryan White CARE Act reauthorization is truly a matter of life and death for thousands of South Carolinians. We urge Congress to immediately pass this modernized Ryan White CARE Act.
