Bird-dogging certainly has it's time and place - but it's not the only strategy out there - and this blog seems to be all bird-dogging all the time.
How about you ask the candidates directly where they stand on positions that are important to you through a questionaire (based on the AIDSvote platform)? Or collaborate with LOGO/HRC on the HIV/AIDS related questions that will be asked at their presidential debate?
There are HIV/AIDS activists across the country that have good relationships with the campaigns, on advisory committees, or serving as advisors, or as supporters.
Why not take advantage of that? Why settle for just yelling a question as they leave an event - when it is entirely possible to sit down with the campaigns and have more substanative conversations?
That's not to discredit bird-dogging, because it is an important tool, but it's just one of many tools we have at our disposal.
